Take Back The Night (TBTN) represents the earliest world-wide stand against sexual violence, especially violence against women. Events began happening in the 1960’s (Belgium & England) and grew into hundreds of events on college campuses and in communities of all sizes and locations around the world. The unifying theme was protest of sexual violence and support for victims. The first march in Cincinnati was in 1989.
Unfortunately, crimes of this nature continue to be committed in epidemic proportions. As the history of Take Back the Night continues to be written, its mission to end sexual violence for all remains a beacon of hope for the millions affected by crimes of violence. We have made great strides, but our march is far from over.
